Following the first stoppage defeat of his career against Liam Smith last month, Chris Eubank Jr is eager for revenge and has now officially activated his rematch clause.
On social media, Smith responded to the news and seemed confident of achieving the same outcome.
Eubank confirmed his plans for a rematch on Twitter, where he also wished ‘Beefy’ a “Happy Valentine’s Day”. The fight with Liam Smith is truly a must-win for the 33-year-old, with no other obvious route back to world title consideration.
After being on the end of a brutal stoppage in their first encounter, it is unlikely that Eubank would be considered as the betting favourite or the ‘A-side’ for the bout, particularly if it happens at Anfield, as is rumoured.
In response to activating his rematch clause, Smith returned wishes of a ‘Happy Valentine’s Day” and told Eubank that he would ‘see him soon’, as well as issuing a reminder of what in the ring last month.

The birth of the Eubank-Smith rivalry has been a positive start for British boxing in 2023. In quite the turnaround, ‘Beefy’ is now on the verge of achieving his dream of headlining a card at the stadium of his beloved Liverpool Football Club.
A timeline for the fight is expected shortly, assuming all major terms had been agreed in the original contract. For Smith, a chance to write the final chapter of this brief but entertaining domestic rivalry. For Eubank, it’s last chance saloon.
