The man who some consider the best fighter in the world may have just put another sport on notice…
We’ve heard that dance lessons were key to Vasiliy Lomachenko’s development as a fighter, and they seem to have given him some good power in his legs, too.
The Ukrainian star, who is back in action this weekend against Jamaine Ortiz, has been seen kicking the pads in training 28 times in 15 seconds. ESPN Ringside posted the video on their Twitter account.

It’s hardly a surprise that one of the world’s most elite fighters excels with his feet as well as his hands. In fact, going back to 2017, ‘Loma’ pointed out on his social media that he used to be at the top of many sports as a child. He reached out to one of MMA’s biggest stars with the information.
“I used to win many wrestling, judo, and sambo tournaments as a kid. Should I try fighting in the UFC? What do you think [Conor McGregor]?”
Whilst the video is a fun insight into a fighting enigma, the power of his kicks will do ‘The Matrix’ little good when he faces Ortiz this Saturday. The American opponent is undefeated and coming off a win over Jamel Herring.
Meanwhile, Lomachenko is restarting his comeback to the top of the lightweight division. Following a shock loss to Teofimo Lopez, in which his belts went too, he has wins over Masayoshi Nakatani and Richard Commey – however progress was paused for the former champion to return to his homeland to support efforts against Russia’s invasion.
It’s thought that, should he come through Ortiz on Saturday, a shot at Devin Haney’s undisputed titles awaits.
