World Boxing Super Series Quarter-Final event headlined by George Groves and Jamie Cox ended in spectacular fashion with Groves retaining his title, but one fight in the undercard had a less happy outcome.
Nathan MacKintosh and Louis Adolphe fought in the ninth bout of the evening in front of a packed SSE Arena that ended in brutal fashion. The referee in charge had paused the bout for a brief moment during which Adolphe knocked McKintosh out cold.
After the big screen replay, the crowd started booing and Adolphe raised his middle fingers in the air. Adolphe was then officially disqualified.
As the event moved on, another serious and violent incident happened backstage.
McKintosh claims that Adolphe attacked McKintosh backstage and his mother in the stands.
“First of all I just want to say that Louis aldolphie is a disgrace to professional boxing. His attitude inside and outside the ring was disgusting. Everybody saw what happened in the fight so i don’t need to explain that (some of you would if loved it most of u hated it ) but what u all don’t no is that he gave me another cheap shot in the corridor after he approached me with his team, to then go into the stands where he then attacked my mother covering her in drinks and pulling her by her hair,” wrote McKintosh in a recent Facebook post.
McKintosh continues that the police are now involved.
“What happened in the boxing ring I hold no grudge for as it was dealt with how it should of been by the ref, but his actions after were unsportsmanship the police are involved and the boxing board. Just to confirm the second cheap shot was like being hit by son,” wrote McKintosh.
