Lucas Browne has confirmed that he has at least three fights lined up for the first half of the year.
The former WBA ‘Regular’ World heavyweight champion released a video last weekend in which he was discussing plans for the future.
Browne, who was knocked out by Dillian Whyte last March, has a ledger of 27-1 with 24 KO’s.
He has won two consecutive fights by knockout himself since being stopped inside six by ‘The Body Snatcher’ at the O2 Arena in London and he has now detailed his plans for the next few months.
“I’m just confirming a few things on the contract at the moment,” the Australian, who won the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver heavyweight belt in his last fight, said when asked about his next fight on social media. “It’s looking like Scotland in March.”
Tom Little, who was stopped by David Price at the O2 Arena last month, could be a potential opponent for ‘Big Daddy’ on that date.
Browne went on to say that he would like to face Dave Allen on the scheduled April 13 card at Wembley Stadium, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office, as part of the supporting cast to what is supposed to be Anthony Joshua’s next defence of the WBA Super, IBF, IBO and WBO world heavyweight titles.
But it’s now looking more and more like the Olympic gold medallist will instead head Stateside to face Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller (23-0-1, 20 KOs) in June, given that it seems WBC champion Deontay Wilder and the former unified king Tyson Fury are headed for a rematch and Dillian Whyte, the other back-up foe for that date, has held positive discussions with Al Haymon and Premier Boxing Champions about a potential fight with former Joshua victim Dominic Breazeale.
“The plan for me this year is to get over to the UK three or four times,” Browne added. “[I need to] make some money, get some good exposure and some big fights after that.”
After potentially fighting Little and Allen, Browne is ready to turn his attention to Liverpudlian Price, who returns at the M&S Bank Arena in his home city, exclusively live on Sky Sports in the UK and DAZN Stateside, on March 30.
“I think I’ll be fighting David Price this year,” said Browne. “But he has chosen not to fight me on that Liverpool card. It will be one of my next [fights] that I will get him in. He has the skill, the size and everything to be successful, but he just doesn’t have the important ingredients and my plan will be to end his career.”
