Mike Tyson had only been stopped five times in his 56 fight career, and one of the men to have achieved that has now revealed how he expects the fight with Jake Paul to go.
Tyson is set to face Paul on Friday 15 November at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, live on Netflix, after the initial date of July 20 was postponed due to Tyson suffering a recent medical incident.
Many fans have big concerns ahead of the bout, believing that at 57-years-old, ‘Iron Mike’ shouldn’t be stepping into the ring with Youtuber-turned-boxer Paul, who is 30 years younger than his opponent.
One man who doesn’t share those concerns is former Tyson opponent James ‘Buster’ Douglas, who shocked the world when earnedd a knockout win at the Tokyo Dome in Japan in 1990 to become world heavyweight champion, heading into the bout as a 42-1 underdog.
Douglas has recently broken down how he feels the fight will play out, and has now doubled down in his confidence of a Tyson victory when discussing further.

“It’s not going to be good for Jake. I don’t think there will be much of a boxing career left for Paul afterwards. I think once Mike gets rid of him, that’s it for his boxing career.
“The best scenario for Paul is to just last the entire fight, say he went the distance with Mike Tyson. Keep his hands up and duck those haymakers because they’re going to be coming. Paul will be intimidated by those haymakers, they’re like rockets.
“Keep moving Paul, don’t stand in front of him, don’t stand on the train tracks. I look at it like an easy win. It will be the easiest win of his career. At 65 years old it may be tough, but at 58 it will be a piece of cake.”
Douglas also dismissed claims that a script may be decided ahead of time for Tyson and Paul to follow in the fight.
“I can’t see Mike doing that, he’s only got one gear. I can’t see him following a script and going through the motions because it takes less than a heartbeat to get Mike in an uproar, so I can’t see him following no script. He’ll be looking for blood like a shark in water.”
It is set to become clear in November whether Douglas is correct with his assessment, on a card that will also feature the undisputed super-lightweight title fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, in a rematch from their epic first bout in April 2022.
