He has now revealed further detail of his plans. ‘The Pacman’ has now revealed that the Argentine WBA regular champion Lucas Matthysse and Philadelphia native Danny Garcia are the front-runners for that clash.
“I consider Garcia but there’s a high possibility that it will be against Matthysse who is the WBA champion,” Pacquiao said.
Both fighters recently recorded stellar victories this year. Danny Garcia returned to winning ways after surrendering his WBC world welterweight title to Keith Thurman last year.
He knocked out Brandon Rios inside of nine rounds in Las Vegas on February 17th.
On the other hand, Matthysse who suffered a decision loss to Danny Garcia is also an option. Lucas Matthysse claimed the WBA regular welterweight title on January 27th in California. The Argentine forcing a stoppage of Tewa Kiram inside of eight rounds.
The 39-year-old Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title in his last fight against Australia’s Jeff Horn in July 2017.
Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao’s record now stands at 59-7-2 with 38 victories coming by way of knockout.
He was originally scheduled to take on Horn late last year, but his senatorial responsibilities could not allow Pacquiao the time to adequately prepare for a fight.
That is however not the case this year in The Philippines however, The Senate will adjourn on March 24 and will resume on May 14, then it will again adjourn on June 2 affording Pacquiao the time to whip himself into top fighting shape.
