The recently retired 49-0 Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather has reflected on his very public spat on social media with 5-weight world champion and boxing legend, Sugar Ray Leonard over the festive season.
Floyd Mayweather seemed to insinuate he was a superior fighter to Leonard after he referenced and drew comparison the importance of their nicknames ‘Sugar’ and ‘TBE’.
Additionally, Mayweather fired barbs in the direction of two former 5-weight world champions, not only Sugar Ray Leonard but also Thomas ‘Hitman’ Hearns.

He very disrespectfully dismissed both boxing legends as ‘easy work’.
Following those comments, Mayweather received a lot of bad publicity for openly going for a boxing legend, who was being very courteous and obliging on his part in their exchanges.
However, Floyd Mayweather has delved into the past to reveal the real reason he has a problem with Sugar Ray Leonard. Mayweather shared he felt disrespected by ‘Sugar Ray’ when together at a hotel.
“He started this with me. I seen Sugar Ray Leonard in the lobby of the Fountainebleau hotel.”

“We talked and we (was) communicating. He’s a legend and I don’t take that away from him.”
“But I’m a legendary icon. This is exactly what Sugar Ray Leonard did. He was on a photo with Magic Johnson and Samuel L. Jackson.”
“It was catty, he was taking some shots. Don’t think I didn’t see it”
Furthermore, Mayweather revealed his estimations of Sugar Ray Leonard, the fighter.
“Sugar Ray Leonard was an Olympic Gold medalist. He had good, real, real fast hands but he was real wild.”
“He hit the canvas numerous times. He got beat by Roberto Duran who was a lightweight, he got beat by Hector Camacho who was a jr-lightweight!”
On a final note, ‘Money’ added: “He didn’t make more money than me.”
