Due to the latest travel restrictions, the vacant Commonwealth lightweight title fight between Sean McComb and Gavin Gwynne has been moved from Dubai next weekend to Bolton on February 19. The European bantamweight title fight between French champion Karim Guerfi and Scotland’s Lee McGregor, also scheduled for the cancelled February 6 Dubai bill, has been postponed until further notice.
The featherweight bout between Mark McKeown and Brad Daws, and 140lbs contest between Pierce O’Leary and Irvin Magno have also moved to the new date in Bolton.
That February 19 card already features Darren Tetley vs Samuel Antwi for the vacant English welterweight title as well as DP Carr vs Dean Dodge for the Southern Area super-featherweight crown plus Limerick welterweight hope Paddy Donovan’s latest outing.
Meanwhile, Liam Walsh’s vacant British lightweight title clash with Paul Hyland Jr. has been postponed after the former tested positive for Covid-19. A new date for that fight, along with the European bantamweight title clash between Guerfi and McGregor, will be announced in due course.
The MTK events in Dubai in March and April are still scheduled to take place.
MTK Global Promoter Lee Eaton said: “It’s a shame that next Saturday’s event in Dubai is unable to take place due to the current travel restrictions, but we have worked hard behind the scenes over the last few days to ensure the majority of the fighters on that card haven’t had to wait long for their fights to be rescheduled.
“It means that Sean McComb, Gavin Gwynne, Mark McKeown, Brad Daws, Pierce O’Leary and Irvin Magno have had to wait less than two weeks for their new date, so we’re delighted to be adding even more star power to what was an already stacked MTK Fight Night on February 19.
“We’re hoping to get Karim Guerfi vs Lee McGregor and Liam Walsh vs Paul Hyland Jr. rescheduled as soon as possible, so boxing fans won’t have to wait long to see those two fantastic fights.”
