UFC President Dana White caused a bit of a stir when he released footage of the sparring session between Paulie Malignaggi and Conor McGregor.
The American boxer left McGregor’s camp in disgust after photos were released of him being on the canvas. Malignaggi claimed that it was a ‘push down’ but McGregor says he knocked the New Yorker down clean. In a recent interview with MMAFighting.com, The Irishman addresses the video and shares his opinion.
While watching the video McGregor tells what he sees.
“Does that look like a push? He was knocked down. That’s actually doing him a favour because the shots before that where he was rattled and stumbled into the ropes…”
McGregor is sure that Malignaggi got concussed during their sparring session.
“In my mind, it was concussion talk. You when you’re in there and your head rattles, you don’t understand what’s happened. You think a certain picture. You think a certain situation happened and it didn’t. He got his ass whooped the poor boy,” told McGregor.
The video did catch many by surprise since there has always been a lot of doubt about McGregor’s abilities in a boxing ring. But how will he match against arguably the greatest defensive boxer of all time?
“I’m doing as good as I thought I would. I know the fighter I am. I know what I’m capable of. 10 ounce or 8 ounce gloves – great. He’ll [Mayweather] be asleep inside two.”
