Mike Tyson has made his pick for the now-confirmed Gervonta Davis versus Ryan Garcia fight.
The pair will face off on April 22 in Las Vegas at a catchweight of 136lb. Since ‘Tank’ and ‘KingRy’ first announced that they were all set to fight, negotiations have wavered and tested fans’ patience.
Tune-up fights, court dates and rematch disputes all threatened to derail the talks, but, in the end, boxing has won and the fight will go ahead.
As of writing, Davis and both broadcasters, Showtime and DAZN, have all confirmed that the fight is official. With word from Garcia expected soon, fans can start booking their flights to Sin City.
A massive part of the hype surrounding the fight is the intrigue. Whilst fans of both will argue that it’s not a pick ’em bout, many more will agree that it is.
Tyson, who’ll no doubt be there front and centre to catch the action unfolding, has made his pick. He told Fight Hub TV that he was siding with Davis on this one to keep his undefeated record.
“Good fight. You’ve gotta say Tank. I say Tank, but I think it’s gonna be a good fight … I don’t think it will go twelve, but it could – I doubt it.”
Tyson doubts that it will go the distance, and with 45 knockouts between them – one more than ‘Iron’ Mike notched up personally – it’s hard to disagree.
Both fighters are in their prime and will bring their own eye-catching styles to the ring. Pair that with the fact that one so-far perfect record will be broken, April 22 can’t come soon enough for boxing fans worldwide, including ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet.’
