Francis Ngannou faces a tougher test than most boxing debutants on October 29th, as he takes on WBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Few are giving the former UFC star a chance against Fury, given the lack of success mixed martial marts practitioners have had in boxing outings in recent years.
However, this clip shows Ngannou on the receiving end of some advice from the legendary Mike Tyson, who gives him some pointers on how to defeat ‘The Gypsy King.’
Public opinion though seems to be that all the advice in the world will be of no use to Ngannou this autumn, as Fury has opened as 1/20 betting favourite with bookmakers.
Fury and Ngannou have to been linked to a fight for over a year, ever since ‘The Nightmare’ entered the ring and faced off with Fury following his stoppage win over mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte last April
Ngannou has a reputation as one of the hardest punchers in the history of MMA, and has ended 12 of his 17 victories inside the distance, so it would appear that he has the power to rival any top heavyweight in the world of boxing.
However, one would imagine he will fall short in the realms of speed, technique and ring IQ, particularly up against a fighter as skilled and accomplished as Fury.
Fury vs Ngannou will take place in Saudi Arabia’s capital city Riyadh, and will no doubt generate huge numbers and be a mammoth commercial success.
That said, there is no denying that Fury electing to go for a one sided exhibition whilst a legacy defining undisputed fight against Oleksandr Usyk lays in waiting is extremely disappointing for boxing fans.
