Mikey Garcia is refusing to give in to the critics. Garcia has once again reaffirmed his desire to step up into his fifth weight class.
Garcia has already previously shared that he would like to emulate the blueprint left by Floyd Mayweather Jr in an effort to become the standout pound-for-pound fighter in world boxing.
Floyd Mayweather conquered world titles in the five weight classes ranging from Super featherweight to Jr middleweight.

Garcia shared that his next big target for his career will be to emulate that accomplishment and join the esteemed company like Mayweather, De La Hoya, Ray Leonard, Thomas Hearns to name a few to have accomplished the rare feat.
“I will do five [weight divisions]. It’s gonna happen. I’m gonna be one of the ones to do it.”
“Not many fighters are capable of doing it, moving up in weight so much, but I’m not looking at it because I’m growing in size.”
“I have to see my skills, my abilities being greater than some of these opponents in higher weight classes,” Garcia said to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.
“So I know that I’ll be coming to welterweight soon. I know that I’ll be going after that fifth world title in a fifth weight division soon.”
“Some people may not take me serious and think I’m too small in size.”

“I might be small, but I don’t lack skills or lack anything in boxing skills and I think that will help me accomplish my goals.”
Mikey Garcia has been very vocal as of late about targeting a clash against Errol Spence Jr. He views that fight as ‘the biggest challenge of my career’.
He has now added that he believes Spence is the standout fighter at the 147 lbs limit. He also claims the man who holds a win over him from his amateur career, Terence Crawford runs him close in the second place.

“I think right now as far as skills, I would put Errol Spence as number one. Crawford is a very close contender for that spot, we just need to see him in that division first and dominate his opponents there.
Thurman is the most accomplished, but I think he’s not as polished and that’s why I put Thurman after Spence and Crawford. Then you have some tough fighters like Danny Garcia and Shawn Porter,” Garcia said.
