Mikey Garcia will bid to claim his fourth world title on March 10th. He will challenge for the IBF world jr-welterweight title against the undefeated Sergey Lipinets.
The clash had originally been scheduled for February 10th. Lipinets, however, suffered a hand injury which resulted in pushing the fight back past March.

Mikey Garcia currently holds the WBC world lightweight title. The thunderous punching Garcia has previously conquered champions in both the featherweight and jr-lightweight divisions.
“Hopefully I get to accomplish this goal of winning the title in four different weight divisions on March 10.”
“It’s an honour to be included on such a short list. This only opens up the doors to bigger fights and bigger things for my career,” Garcia said.
I’m looking forward to being a part of several great fights this year on @ShowtimeBoxing. Thanks to all of the media who came out to support the announcement event in NYC. The best is yet to come. #TeamMikeyGarcia#RGBApic.twitter.com/o2LQ96Mbzt

A victory would bring him closer to securing much bigger opportunities – like dropping back to 135-pounds for a unification with Jorge Linares, who defends this Saturday against Mercito Gesta.
Over the next few years, Garcia wants to cement his position as the standout fighter in world boxing. A vacancy which has opened up since the retirements of multiple weight champions, Andre Ward and Floyd Mayweather Jr in 2017.
“March 10 is just another small step closer to achieving my ultimate goal, which is to become the best fighter of this generation,” Garcia said.
Lipinets is not perceived to have a realistic chance in the upcoming fight, but he plans to make it an action-packed encounter by looking to dictate the pace by being his usual self. That gameplan will include pressure and throwing a lot of punches.
“I will give my best before I get in the ring and when I get in the ring. I guarantee it will be a war and a great fight and you won’t be disappointed,” Lipinets said.
The undefeated Garcia currently boasts a stellar record of 37 victories.
30 of those fights ended by way of knockout and he will be looking to record knockout number 31 against Lipinets.
Garcia says following the fight with Lipinets he will drop back down to the lightweight limit to look for a unification clash with Jorge Linares.
Furthermore, a potential super-fight showdown with Vasyl Lomachenko could lie down the pipeline too.
