Jonas, now WBO and WBC champion after defeating Patricia Berghult in Liverpool a few weeks ago, clearly has goals of becoming undisputed as she looks to add Dicaire’s IBF belt to her ever-growing collection. The Canadian will be no pushover, however, having only tasted defeat once and that was to the elite Claressa Shields.
Co main event is Dalton Smith, with Matchroom’s most treasured prospects fighting behind enemy lines due to Sky and Boxxer winning the purse bids for his British title defence against mandatory challenger Kaisee Benjamin. Although Smith is expected to make it past Benjamin and move on to bigger and better things, the Birmingham man will not be there to lie down and should prove to be the toughest test of ‘Thunder’’s career to date.
Also on the card is Boxxer’s premier heavyweight Frazer Clarke, who is making an overdue step up against wily journeyman Kamil Sokolowski – a fighter who has caused many a problem for up-and-coming heavyweights during his 37-fight career.
Lastly of the card announced so far is Manchester lad Brad Rea, who will be looking to impress the home crowd against a tough opponent in Tyler Denny. Denny recently lost out to River Wilson-Bent for the English title, so will be looking to bounce back and claim a sizeable scalp in the form of Rea.
The show will serve as a prelude to local hero Ricky Hatton’s much anticipated exhibition fight against Marcos Antonio Barrera, rescheduled for November 13th having been initially due to take place in July.
