Four-weight world champion, Nonito Donaire is one of the finest combatants of the modern era. On April 21st he will have another chance to prove just why when he takes on ‘The Jackal’ Carl Frampton at The SSE Arena in Belfast.
Donaire will be travelling to enemy territory for a chance to lock horns with the Northern Irish 2-weight world champion.
Donaire only had one fight in 2017. He overcame the challenge posed by Mexico’s Ruben Garcia Hernandez in that performance which allowed him to claim the WBC ‘Silver’ featherweight title.
But he is once again making a step in class to take on Carl Frampton in a sort of crossroads clash which will see the obituaries eventually written for the loser of this captivating clash.
Additionally, Donaire now aged 35 has shared his belief that both he and Frampton’s fighting styles will blend perfectly for the perfect cocktail of a fight.
“I’ve been wanting this fight for a long time. I’ve always been that type of guy that wants to fight everybody,” he told Rappler.
“I see his style, my style, somewhat similar, we both have power, we both can brawl, we can box, we can do all that stuff.”
“I think this is going to be a very interesting fight and I’m very excited for it,” Donaire added.
“I think I have a lot of years ahead of me. I’ve fought well in the past, but I’ve never pushed myself to the limit of anything.”
“I’ve been smart and that’s something I’ve always had, but now pushing it to the next level, you’ll see the potential that I have again,” ‘The Filipino Flash’ concluded.
