The former four-weight world champion, Filipino Nonito Donaire will take on the former 2-weight world champion, Carl Frampton in his hometown of Belfast at the SSE Arena on April 21st.
Donaire and Frampton faced the media for the first time and the Filipino knockout sensation was very complimentary when pressed to sum up his estimations of ‘The Jackal’ purely as a fighter.

“Carl is an incredible fighter,” Nonito began.
“Like he said he is also the type of fighter that can fight, can box and has power.”

“So we are in some ways similar in our ways of fighting, there are a lot of similarities in being able to do a lot of things.”
“Not just to fight, not just to box but a lot of things.”
“Not only that but strategically, he has done well against Santa Cruz and all the likes of those.”

“He is someone that I cannot take lightly and like he said its one of those things I can’t test.”
Nonito Donaire was last in action in September when he overcame the challenge posed by Ruben Garcia Hernandez. Donaire claimed victory on that occasion by way of unanimous decision.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, ‘The Jackal’ made his return to the ring following surrendering his WBA (Super) featherweight title in his rematch with the seasoned Leo Santa Cruz.
He had a somewhat problematic fight down the stretch against Mexico’s rugged Horacio Garcia and struggled to a decision verdict victory in his last fight in November 2017.

This upcoming fight is seen as somewhat of a crossroads fight with both combatants coming off not the best periods of their thriving careers.
Both fighters need a victory to kickstart their careers once more. Retirement will potentially, glaringly loom for the loser of this fight with it doubtful they will receive another world title opportunity.
