Michael Wallisch is in bullish mood ahead of his heavyweight confrontation with Joe Joyce at the BT Sport studios in Stratford, London, on Saturday (July 25).
Wallisch (20-3, 13 KOs) knows that an upset victory would derail Joyce’s eagerly anticipated October 24 collision with Daniel Dubois at the O2 Arena and push his own name into the heavyweight title picture. Stablemate Erik Pfeifer has a similar opportunity when he meets Dubois on August 29.
“The plan is to ruin the fight between Dubois and Joyce. We’re thinking about which of us is winning, who’ll fight the other guy [in October] and then the winner wants to fight Tyson Fury in England,” said the optimistic German.
“Joyce should never underestimate me. I’m an old wolf in this business. I know you should never underestimate anyone and he shouldn’t underestimate me.
“We love to fight in England. England is one of the best countries to fight in. The Germans are coming. And we will win.”
Joyce vs Wallisch is live on BT Sport 1 from 7.15pm on Saturday July 25.
