Like all heavyweight contenders Luis Ortiz will be an interested spectator on August 20.
The date sees one of the biggest fights of the year take place when Oleksandr Usyk defends his three World Heavyweight titles against Anthony Joshua.
It will be the first defence for the Ukrainian and arrives 11 months on from their first fight at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
A dazzling performance by Usyk and a confusing one by Joshua led to the away fighter deservedly winning a unanimous decision.
Joshua has an uphill task to become a three-time champion but has enlisted the skills of trainer Robert Garcia to help him in his quest.
During a recent interview with several members of the media, filmed by FightHype, Ortiz was asked for his prediction on the fight.
Responding through his translator he answered:
“He believes Joshua has everything to win that rematch and should win the rematch.
“It’s up to Joshua and his mental state during the fight.”
Fifteen days later Ortiz faces an old Joshua adversary. The 43-year-old takes on former heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz Jr at the Crypto.Com Arena in Los Angeles.
Ortiz, a former title challenger, will look to make it two wins from two this year after beating Charles Martin at the beginning of 2022.
For Ruiz it will be his first fight since defeating Chris Arreola in an all-Mexican heavyweight affair 14 months ago. The 32-year-old ran out a deserving winner on all three scorecards.
Whoever walks out the loser on September 4 will find their own title aspirations severely dented with a whole host of credible fighters looking for a shot at Usyk, Joshua or WBC champion Tyson Fury.
