The seasoned and experienced Cuban former amateur star, Luis Ortiz will finally get the chance he has craved for some time on March 3rd. He will be afforded the opportunity to challenge Deontay Wilder for his WBC world heavyweight title at the Barclays Arena in New York.
‘King Kong’ will aim to become the first professional world heavyweight champion to hail from Cuba.
The two big heavyweights were originally scheduled to face off last year but the fight was called off following Ortiz testing positive for a prohibited substance.

The WBC retrospectively decided however that was as a result of prescribed blood pressure medication.
Wilder will be looking to make the seventh defence of his world title and claim the 40th professional victory of his career.
Wilder’s record currently stands at an intimidating 39-0 with all but one of those victories coming by way of knockout. But the slick Cuban is not fazed by the challenge that lies before him.
Instead, Ortiz shared an ominous warning. This match-up is looked as somewhat of a classic stylistic clash. With the big puncher coming together against the boxer in a bull and matador scenario.

Ortiz was quick to remind us however that may not be the case. Ortiz claims he is also a knockout artist also and warned the Alabama native that he ‘better be careful.’
“Deontay has never faced an opponent with my skills. I am a knockout artist and I have never lost a fight, so Wilder better be careful,” Ortiz said.
Additionally, Ortiz cited his experience will be a crucial factor. But the standout factor in this fight will be his overwhelming desire to succeed.
“I am a very experienced fighter, but I possess something else – I’m so hungry for success.”
“I am ready to prove that I am the best heavyweight. Wilder is a great challenge in my career.”
Even though I know that for many I am not the favourite in the fight, that night will be historic for Cuban boxing – remember I told you so!” Ortiz concluded.
