Just when you thought the circus had left town, boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya issues a challenge to UFC champion and 0-1 boxer Conor McGregor.
The former world champion made the announcement on his own show, ‘Golden Boy Radio’ and even did a bit of build up on social media.
What might have seemed like a goof turns out to be a serious call out.
De La Hoya wants to fight the Irishman in a boxing ring.
“You know I’m competitive. I still have it in me. I’ve been secretly training. I’m faster than ever and stronger than ever. I know I could take out Conor McGregor in two rounds. I’ll come back for that fight,” claimed ‘Golden Boy’.
He then continued:
“Just one more. I’m calling him out. Two rounds. That’s all I need. That’s all I’m gonna say.
Here’s a video of De La Hoya’s announcement.
Since his biggest professional fight in August against Floyd Mayweather Jr, McGregor has been out of the UFC cage. The Irishman fought 10 rounds against ‘Money’ Mayweather until he was stopped by the boxing great. McGregor reportedly made a $100 million dollars from the fight.
If a fight would actually come fruition with De La Hoya, it’s not far off to think that both fighters would be getting another huge payday.

Recently McGregor made headlines after he slapped and pushed an official referee at an MMA event in Dublin, Ireland after his teammate won a fight and ‘The Notorious’ entered the cage without permission.
The video went viral seconds after the incident and McGregor is expected to face serious penalties due to his actions.
