Otto Wallin has had his say on an undisputed fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk,
The legacy fight would crown a sole champion in the heavyweight division for the first time since Lennox Lewis, and talks are said to be progressing well between the two camps.
The one loss on Wallin’s record came at the hands of Fury – a unanimous decision in Las Vegas in which he caused ‘The Gypsy King’ a cut above the right eye that required 47 stitches post fight.
With that experience informing his prediction, he told Pro Boxing Fans that he doesn’t see how Usyk can win.
“I think Fury wins. It’s very hard to go against him. Especially against Usyk, who’s a brilliant boxer by the way, but he’s just too small for him I think.”
With a spring date targeted and the Middle East likely to play host, all that’s left is an official announcement for the fight. Wallin joins many others in predicting that the Ukrainian’s size disadvantage will be a key part in the contest.
Usyk previously won all the belts at cruiserweight before moving up and defeating Anthony Joshua twice to get himself into this position – fights that many fans said he was too small for before they played out.
As for Wallin, he’s used going the distance with Fury as something of a calling card in the heavyweight division – an invite to the top contenders to have a go at bettering ‘The Gypsy King’s performance.
After building up four victories, the latest fighter in his sights is Anthony Joshua. Wallin’s team say that they have had positive conversations with Eddie Hearn, ‘AJ’s promoter, about a fight early this year.
