WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford seems likely to face either Manny Pacquiao or Shawn Porter next, according to promoter Bob Arum.
Arum revealed that Crawford’s top priority is to face ring legend Pacquiao this year with a unification clash against Errol Spence Jr seemingly unrealistic.
Should Crawford-Pacquiao fail to materialise, however, Arum also disclosed that he has held discussions with former world champion Shawn Porter’s team about an all-American welterweight showdown in 2021.
“[Kenny Porter] came to our office two weeks ago to talk about a Crawford-Porter fight,” Arum said to Barbershop Conversations. “Then, out of nowhere the idea of a tremendous site fee, a possibility of doing Pacquiao-Crawford came up. It’s more money for Terence. Terence would prefer a Pacquiao fight than anyone else.
“We’re going to see what happens, and we’ll know this week whether Pacquiao-Crawford can happen. If it doesn’t happen, since Spence clearly doesn’t want to fight Crawford, I think Crawford-Porter would be a tremendous fight.”
