Former world champion turned boxing pundit Paulie Malignaggi has doubted whether the videos Mike Tyson has shared of himself in training for his fight with Jake Paul are real.
Despite concerns about the age gap and Paul’s strides in the ring since turning pro, Tyson’s video showcases his sharpness and determination.
The Paul-Tyson bout could become one of the most talked-about events for right or wrong as we await news of the official rules.
Malignaggi was speaking to Lord Ping when he gave his views that the videos might not be legitimate.
“I got to say man, I’m not sure where Tyson is with his motivation. I don’t know how recent the videos are because I spoke to some people who were with Tyson not that long ago and he didn’t look the most active, I don’t know if the video reel is recent or just created to create headlines.”
He cast further doubt by saying he knows people who know Tyson who have told him he hasn’t been that active of late.
“I don’t know if it’s a recent video of him hitting the pads to tell you the truth because I saw some people not long ago, in the last couple of months, and he was very chilled out. He was not discussing anything physical.”
Whether or not the videos are real we shall only know when the pair step into the ring in summer, live on Netflix.
