Former world champion Shawn Porter has been asked to predict how a fight between Floyd Mayweather and Tommy Hearns might have gone.
Mayweather remained undefeated across his 50-fight career and won belts up and down the divisions as well as being involved in epic nights such as his showdown with Manny Pacquiao in 2015. He was a famous slickster with great defence who was always hard to hit.
Hearns meanwhile was a big hitter who became the first boxer in history to win world titles in five weight divisions: welterweight, light middleweight, middleweight, super middleweight and light heavyweight.
Porter was asked by ProBoxTV to break down the fight had it happened at the welterweight weight limit of 147 lbs.
“It is what it is. Hitman takes that. When I went back to watch a bit of the Hitman’s career, a bit of his originals and some fights from the amateurs and stuff like that, I don’t think Tommy was as skilful as you expect given his much boxing he had done from a young age and grew up doing the sport.
“He wasn’t as skilful as I personally was expecting him to be but he knew what he was doing. A bit like Deontay Wilder he had the ability to let the right hand go, he knew how to set it up, he has speed and power. The Hitman wins that fight.”
However it might have gone, it would have been a great fight while it lasted.
