IBF No.1 heavyweight contender Kubrat Pulev will be an interested spectator when Dillian Whyte and Alexander Povetkin clash next weekend, but the dangerous Bulgarian admits he is sick of Whyte’s constant talking.
Pulev (28-1, 14 KOs) is very much in the heavyweight title picture with his postponed mandatory engagement with WBA Super, WBO and IBF champion Anthony Joshua awaiting a rescheduled date, most likely in December.
Yet the Bulgarian says he has become jaded by Whyte’s garrulous nature as he lobbies for his own title shot against WBC king Tyson Fury or even a rematch with old rival Joshua.
A former stablemate of Povetkin when they were both at Sauerland Promotion, Pulev believes the Russian’s fight with Londoner Whyte on August 22 is intriguingly balanced.
“It is a very interesting fight, they are both very good boxers. Povektin was a very good amateur. We know professional boxing is different and we know Whyte is a 100 percent professional boxer. I’m 50-50 [on who triumphs], but I hope Povetkin wins because I know him personally and he’s a really good man who does not talk too much,” Pulev told Betway Insider.
“On the other hand, Dillian Whyte talks so much bullshit. He is always twisting things up and talking bullshit; talking, talking, talking too much. I don’t like this.
“I want to fight Whyte after I win [against] AJ, I want to fight with Dillian Whyte and I want to show him a very special KO. I promise him that.”
