Anthony Crolla could be set for the biggest payday of his life in his next fight.
The Manchester lightweight is the mandatory challenger to face Vasiliy Lomachenko.
Crolla, a former WBA World champion, would come up against the Ukrainian genius in a challenge for his old belt with the WBO crown also at stake.
Bob Arum, Lomachenko’s promoter, has stated that his man wants to take on ‘Million Dollar’ in the UK this summer.
And representatives of both parties were notified of the purse bid for the fight, scheduled for February 4, will be held at the offices of the WBA in Panama City.
Crolla won the belt four years ago against Darleys Perez and defended it once against Ismael Barroso, before succumbing in his second defence against Jorge Linares in September 2016.
Lomachenko, who knocked out Linares when they met last May, beat Jose Pedraza last December to claim the aforementioned WBO belt.
And though the fight with Crolla has been mandated, it is understood that next for ‘Loma’ will be the winner of a fight for the vacant IBF lightweight title.
Richard Commey boxes Isa Chaniev at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco on February 2, with the hope being that the double Olympic champion and three-weight world champion will clinch that belt before taking on Crolla.
The purse bid, directed by Aurelio Fiengo, must be a minimum of $150,000 with a 75-25 per cent split in the favour of the champion Lomachenko.
