Adrien Broner fights have historically drawn significant television audiences. Many of those viewers tune in to see the four-weight champion get beat, but Broner isn’t leaving the sport any time soon and is set to revive his career at a catchweight between 140lbs and 147lbs.
The 31-year-old Broner (33-4-1, 24 KOs & 1 NC) appears destined to return in January 2021 when he hopes to face fringe contender Ivan Redkach with whom he has recently engaged in a social media beef.
‘The Problem’ hasn’t fought since dropping a 12-round verdict to Manny Pacquaio in January 2019 and not won since defeating Adrian Granados by split decision in December 2017, but that break hasn’t dimmed his competitive spirit.
“Man, I would love to go in there and stop [Redkach],” Broner told Brian Custer on ‘The Last Stand’ podcast. “It’d be a good fight. You know, especially me coming off, I’ve been off for what, two years?
“I don’t care if we fight. I mean, as long as my money right, we gonna have a hell of a fight. I’m gonna fuck him up, though. He asking for it. He been begging for it.”
Los Angeles-based Ukrainian Redkach (23-5-1, 18 KOs & 1 NC) was last seen dropping a wide decision to Danny Garcia in January 2020. Broner is due to reappear on Showtime in January and Redkach looks increasingly likely to be in the opposing corner.
