Robert Garcia has revealed the fighter he thinks could beat unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk – and it’s one who hung up the gloves a long time ago.
Speaking to FightHype, Garcia stated he believed a young Mike Tyson would have the perfect style to counteract the polished skills of the Ukranian.
When asked if he sees any other heavyweight that would be able to beat Usyk, Garcia answered:
“Man, Usyk is very difficult.
I don’t even know if there is any heavyweight that fights like that, but if we had a fighter like the old Mike Tyson, I think that style is probably the one that beats Usyk.
But we don’t have anybody like that in the heavyweight division.
As for the top guys, I don’t think there’s anyone who fights like Mike Tyson did, so maybe it’s going to be hard to find someone to beat him.”
Garcia trained Anthony Joshua for his defeat in the rematch to Usyk in August, and there has been much speculation as to whether or not the Brit will remain with Garcia or change training camps yet again.
AJ could be set for the biggest night of his career to date this December, with talks regarding a monster fight with Tyson Fury said to be progressing well.
As for Usyk, he accused Fury of pursuing the Joshua fight as a means of avoiding an undisputed clash, with his management reiterating the idea ‘The Gypsy King’ was scared of the three-belt champion.
