Top trainer, Robert Garcia, has made his prediction for the upcoming fight between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia.
The two young superstars will face each other on April 15 in what is, without question, the biggest fight in boxing this year so far. Both men are unbeaten, have huge followings and are putting it all on the line in two weeks’ time.
In a sport where fans rarely see the best fight the best, fans are hoping this showdown can be the catalyst for more big fights in 2023.
‘Tank’ goes into the fight as the favourite, with most picking him to get the knockout, but top coach, Garcia, thinks otherwise.
When speaking to Fight Hub TV, Garcia said:
“I think Davis is favourite, but do I think Ryan has that speed and power to land and hurt him? Yes.
So I pick Ryan. I pick Ryan because he’s too fast and hits very, very hard.
It could take 10 rounds, but if he lands he hurts you, so something will land. We might even see a boring fight but that one punch he has might hurt Tank, but vice versa too as tank also hits very hard.
It’s going to be like a chess match, let’s see who makes the first mistake.”
If Garcia’s prediction comes true, fans will likely get to see the action all over again, as Davis has a rematch clause should he fail to get the victory.
Davis and Garcia meet at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 22. The event will be shown on both Showtime and DAZN PPV in the US, while UK fans can watch the action on DAZN as part of their monthly subscription.
