The boxing world is in mourning after Roy Jones Jr announced the tragic news that his son has passed away.
Jones is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional boxers of all time, having won world titles in multiple divisions, and is the only fighter in history to start his career at light middleweight and go on to win a world heavyweight title.
Since retiring, Jones has gone on to have success in both broadcasting and training within boxing, and recently worked with Chris Eubank Jr for a number of fights.
Outside of the ring, Jones and his wife had three children, with their eldest son, Roy III, going on to play basketball at Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nevada.
Sadly, Roy announced the news on social media that his son Deandre had passed away at the age of 32 after taking his only life.
“Unfortunately, my son Deandre took his life on Saturday. I’m so thankful that God allowed me to come home Friday night to spend the last night of his life with me and the family.
“I know a lot of people are going through tough times right now, but nothing is worth taking your own life. God gives it and God should be the one to take it away.
“Please respect our privacy with my family and I process this loss. Thank you for the love and support.”
