Roy Jones Jr Identifies ‘The Problem’ Ryan Garcia Has: “He’s Gonna Have A Hard Time”

Right now Ryan Garcia is a boxer with plenty of potential and lots still to prove in the ring, and Roy Jones Jr thinks he knows what ‘the problem’ is with the fighter and claims ‘he’s gonna have a hard time.’

Garcia is in the middle of negotiating his ring return. He has not fought since April last year when he stepped up against the hard-hitting Gervonta Davis and took his first loss.

The fight ended in the seventh when ‘Tank’ landed a heavy body shot and Garcia failed to beat the count, and since then he has had a tumultuous relationship with his promoter Oscar De La Hoya.

The loss came after earlier wins against the likes of Luke Campbell and Javier Fortuna and leaves Garcia looking to get back to winning ways this year.

After first announcing he was chasing a fight with Devin Haney, that fell by the wayside and his attention shifted to Rolly Romero, who now also seems to have got away from Garcia.

Speaking to Fight Hype, Jones Jr spoke on what he sees as one thing that will hold Garcia back from beating the best of the best.

“I think he’s an awesome fighter but the problem in my opinion is that Ryan has a left hook that is a killer but everybody knows it. So until he gets something else or knows how to disguise it, he’s going to have a hard time with the upper-echelon fighters.”

He then credit the power of Garcia’s hook but again said that better fighters will be able to guard against it.

“The regular fights he will kill, cause if he hits you with a left hook it’s over, but the guys who know not to get hit like Tank did, it’s gunna be a problem.”
