Former unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz says he is fed up with Dillian Whyte playing ‘the victim card’.
Whyte was on the brink of securing a shot at WBC heavyweight king Tyson Fury when he was stunningly knocked out by Alexander Povetkin in five rounds last Saturday.
The Londoner had been pushing for a fight with Ruiz earlier in 2020, but the former champion showed little interest. Whyte (27-2, 18 KOs) took to baiting Ruiz on social media, poking fun at the American’s weight amongst other jibes.
Naturally, Ruiz (33-2, 22 KOs) took some satisfaction when Whyte was sparked last weekend, but the Californian has now been irritated by the Brixton man’s reaction to defeat.
“Stop playing the victim card bro,” said Ruiz via his Twitter account on Friday night.
“You talk all this shit, disrespect your opponents at weigh-ins, post stupid memes and now we gotta feel sorry for you cause you got KO’d? Get the fuck out of here.”
Since losing his WBA Super, WBO and IBF titles in a rematch to Anthony Joshua last December, Ruiz has linked up with new trainer Eddy Reynoso and looks in fine shape as he plans another assault on the heavyweight division.
