Super-lightweight world title challenger Ryan Garcia has hit out at further enquiries into his mental wellbeing, after a string of uncharacteristic posts left fans concerned that he was not in a fit state to fight Devin Haney in four weeks’ time.
When Haney-Garcia was announced the event was met with excitement, yet now the fight date appears to be coming almost too quick, with fans grimacing with fear over Garcia’s mental health.
However, despite those worries, ‘King Ry’ has maintained that he is feeling and looking good during training camp with no intentions of withdrawing from the contest, regardless of suggestions from NYSAC that he should undergo an assessment.
Although, doubts over Garcia’s mindset still remain, and were not helped by a clip of Garcia crying on social media, as the 25-year-old hit back with accusations that the video was edited and did not show that his tears came as a result of worship rather than instability.
Praise Jesus, those who know the Holy Spirit will make a grown man cry.
You shortened the video I was worshipping God on my TikTok live with my community.
I love God and you titled this as if I was crying due to mental instability.
I find it distasteful, and disrespectful… https://t.co/M3c5cOjpQB

“Praise Jesus, those who know the Holy Spirit will make a grown man cry. You shortened the video I was worshipping God on my TikTok live with my community. I love God and you titled this as if I was crying due to mental instability. I find it distasteful, and disrespectful to my beliefs. But again get your clicks and views. See you 4/20.”
For now at least, Garcia will challenge for the WBC super-lightweight title on April 20th, in what will be his first attempt at securing world championship status, in spite of his already impressive pay-per-view and level of celebrity.
But, should he decide to pull out, there are plenty of alternate suitors waiting in line, prepared to step in and attempt to dethrone Haney.
