Ryan Garcia is the most talked about man in boxing at the moment, but each time his name is mentioned it seems Gervonta Davis’ is too. Now, ‘King Ry’ has revealed plans to put an end to this by offering his rival a rematch at a different weight to their first encounter.
‘Tank’ knocked out Garcia last year in a catchweight bout set at 136lbs and considering how Garcia couldn’t make 140lbs last week, it is clear to see how that limit and subsequent rehydration clause could have played a huge factor in the outcome of their clash.
To further support this, Garcia weighed in at 143lbs against Devin Haney last Friday and went on to dominate the arguable top three pound-for-pound champion with his power there for all to see, scoring three knockdowns on his way to a majority-decision upset win.
Whilst Haney’s title was not on the line, star power certainly was – a prize arguably more important in the modern version of boxing and certainly in the eyes of Garcia. As a result, Garcia has thrust his name into the realms of Davis and Canelo Alvarez, leaving fans clamouring for a rematch between he and the WBA lightweight champion.
On social media, Garcia called out Davis for a second fight, suggesting it should go ahead at a more comfortable weight.

“Everyone wanna talk about the little Stupid tank.
Let’s fight nuff of that funny talk.
Come see me at 144 and let stop the talk.
If you beat Frank [Martin], let’s run it @Gervontaa.”
Davis-Martin is set for June 15th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, for what will be Tank’s first defence of his lightweight title.
‘Tank’ is the latest big name that has been called out by ‘King Ry’ since his victory on Saturday, having also mentioned the likes of Sebastian Fundora and UFC champion Sean O’Malley.
