Following the announcement that Oleksandr Usyk has signed with Skill Challenge Promotions, rumours that the Saudi based outfit have also agreed deals with Devin Haney and Deontay Wilder have surfaced over the past couple of weeks.
Both men have recently visited the oil rich nation and met with Prince Khalid, founder of Skill Challenge, and predictable speculation has emerged as a result.
However, Skill Challenge Head of Boxing Amer Abdallah has poured cold water on those rumours in a recent interview with Stamina For Sale.
“Until you hear an official statement come from Skills Challenge Promotions, everything is speculation. They have speculated that Deontay and Devin have agreed terms with Skill Challenge. That speculation probably stems from the fact that they came out as guests of Prince Khalid to Saudi.
But is there any truth or merit to that? The answer is no.
That doesn’t mean that it can’t happen, because we certainly would love to entertain those kinds of fighters, because they’re elite guys.
But is that happening right now? The answer is no.
Skill Challenge intend to stage an historic event in December, that would see Wilder take on Anthony Joshua on the same card as an undisputed bout between Tyson Fury and Usyk, but there are still plenty of hurdles to overcome before the boxing public can get too excited.
If it does take place, the event in Saudi would almost definitely be the richest card in boxing history, with a figure of £300 million being rumoured.
