Billy Joe Saunders is fresh from his third title defence against the hard-punching David Lemieux in his backyard in Quebec, Canada.
Many expected the matchup to be a 50-50 affair and a case of the classic matchup in boxing history.
The bull and the matador with several highlighting Lemieux’s knockout power as the determining factor in this fight.
However, the fight quickly fizzled out into a one-sided affair with the WBO world middleweight champion using his superior ring craft and boxing IQ to pile up round after round on the scorecards.
“I’ve come into this guy’s backyard and schooled him,” Saunders said.

Saunders has now shared he intends to enter the rarefied air of the middleweight division and challenge either the unified, undefeated world middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin or the Lineal world middleweight titleholder, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in a super-fight.
“I’ve done it to Lemieux and now I’ll do it to Canelo and I’ll do it to Golovkin. I’ll fight them anytime, anyplace, anywhere and they both know it.

Furthermore, Saunders scoffed at suggestions the matchup was a 50-50 affair.
“I’ll give them a boxing lesson. The bookies and some others claimed this was a 50-50 fight against Lemieux and it was nothing but a money-maker for punters who know a good bet when they see one.”
Saunders also discussed the pivotal role his new trainer, Dominic Ingle has played in the revival of his career.
“It was easy because Dominic [Ingle] told me what to do and everything that he said would happen happened,” said Saunders.
“We’ve been working hard for months together and I’m a new fighter and nearly the finished article.”
Saunders concluded by saying he intends to enjoy the festive season with loved ones, before getting back in the gym early in 2018 and he has promised that there will be no slacking off on his part, moving forwards.
Well I did say watch what @bjsaunders_ does didn’t I! Levels above Lemieux he is! Made Lemieux look like a novice..
Poor from Lemieux at the end refusing to give Billy any credit!

“I’ll get my belt home, enjoy Christmas with my family and get back to the gym in the new year.”
“I’ll polish things up to be the best I can be. There’ll be no slacking off, I’ll make sure I’m ready for whatever comes next,” added the MTK Global-backed middleweight.
