Scott Fitzgerald will return to the ring on May 1st.
The former British super welterweight champion will fight in an 8-round bout on the Derek Chisora-Joseph Parker undercard to be shown live on Sky Sports Box Office.
The 29-year-old has behind him an unbeaten record of (14-0, 9 KOs) which includes memorable wins over Anthony Fowler and the new British 154lb champion Ted Cheeseman. Two W’s that look better by the week given recent performances and achievements by the pair.
In fact, it was the victory over Cheeseman which was the last time boxing fans watched Fitzgerald in the ring. That was nearly 16 months ago on October 19 2019. Since then, ‘The Mad Man’ as he is known to many, has been through a series of personal issues outside of the ring which, along with the Covid-19 pandemic, has contributed to his inactivity.
Fitzgerald, who fights out of the Larches and Savick ABC, could fight three times this year and is looking at potential rematches with Fowler and Cheeseman as part of his 2021 agenda.
The domestic scene at 154lbs continues to be a thriving one and the return of the 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medallist will certainly add to the boiling pot at super-welterweight.
