Sean Brady has opened up once again on his loss to Michael Morales at a UFC 322 welterweight event last November. This time, his revelation mentions CEO Dana White. The fight, which ran at Madison Square Garden, looked nearly flawless and saw Brady knocked out in the first round. While Brady takes full blame for the loss, he highlighted multiple pre-match crises leading up to the D-day.
Recently, he revealed that the UFC canceled the famed title eliminator a few days before it eventually happened over medical reasons. Without divulging much, Brady claims the matchup was tentative for a couple of days, and was only confirmed hours before the opening bell. Yet, Brady’s recent claim seems to add an intriguing twist to the loss.
Sean Brady’s claim to Dana White adds twist to Morales loss
The fight ended in an 18-2 loss, ending Brady’s three-fight winning streak and tentatively eliminating him from the title picture. However, the 33-year-old opens up on a conversation with Dana White that adds a new twist to the picture.
“What happened with Morales was a fluke. Anybody could get caught… what you’ve just seen is me locked in for 15 minutes. When I’m there, I can do that to anybody in the world.”
There are no confirmatory stories to Brady’s “fluke” claim. If anything, we might have to wait for a future rematch with Morales under similar conditions. Morales remains a notable force in the promotion, whose only loss in the game came during an early-career “TUF-style” reality show fight in Ecuador at age 17. With 20 wins and one loss on his professional scorecard, there are few genuine reasons to doubt a Morales win.
Instead, Sean Brady may be better off boasting about his recent UFC 328 win over Joaquin Buckley. Brady ousted Buckley while winning a wide unanimous decision on Saturday night. He scored takedowns in all three rounds, overwhelming Buckley with a steady diet of top control and ground-and-pound. The victory means Brady has now won four of his previous five bouts, replacing him in UFC welterweight title contention.
