Shakur Stevenson has sent a stern message to Gervonta Davis, claiming he will “expose” his countryman if and when the pair meet in the ring.
Three weight world champion Davis stoked the fire recently when he claimed he had previously hurt in Stevenson in a sparring session.
However, Stevenson staunchly denied his countryman’s claims when they were brought up in an interview by FightHype.
“Even with the sparring, this dude is a liar. What did you ever do to me in sparring? He maybe landed a good shot, but he never hurt me, never buzzed me. I landed good shots on him too!
I’m confused, talking about he cracked me. He feels like he’s something that he’s not, and to the world he looks like a killer.
I can’t wait, I’m going to expose him. I’ll be the person who he won’t be able to knock out or hurt. He’ll have to go twelve rounds with someone who’s beating him.
He’s not going to like that, that s*** will mess with his head.”
Stevenson had his first fight at lightweight this past weekend, stopping Shuichiro Yoshina in the sixth round in an extremely impressive performance.
Despite his young age, Stevenson is already a two weight world champion, having picked up world titles at both featherweight and super featherweight before making the move up to 135lbs.
Davis takes on Ryan Garcia in a 136lbs catchweight bout on April 22nd, in what is widely expected to be one of the highest grossing fights of this year.
With regards to a clash between Stevenson and Davis, boxing fans will have to hope that promotional barriers can be overcome and the two young stars can settle their beef.
