After earning a historic undisputed status in a second weight class by dominating IBF 154lbs champion Marie-Eve Dicaire on the weekend, Claressa Shields seized the opportunity to take aim at long-time rival Savannah Marshall.
After clearing out the 154lbs scene, Shield outlined her intention to hunt down WBO middleweight champion Marshall. The Brit remains the only opponent to conquer Shields in the ring – amateur or professional.
“Savannah Marshall can’t f*** with me,” Shields said during her post-fight interview. “Let’s keep it real. I wanna say something cuz I know she’s out there watching.
Savannah Marshall, you won a lucky decision when we was kids. I was 17. Also, London was hosting the Olympics. She know if you wanna gloat about you beating me, come on now. And then you let me become champion in three different weight classes, and you pro?
“Make it make sense. Savannah Marshall know she cannot and will not ever be able to f*** with me. And she can come to America, I can go to the UK, we can go to Mexico. Wherever Savannah Marshall wanna go, I will f*** her up, literally. She knows that.”
