The Undisputed Female Middleweight World Title fight between Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall looks to have a date and location.
Big Fight Weekend’s Dan Rafael revealed that the grudge match will take place on Saturday, September 10 in London. He added that an official announcement is expected to come after the July 4th holiday in America.
The two unbeaten fighters have been at each other’s throats since Shields travelled to Cardiff in February for her last title defence against Ema Kozin which Marshall was ringside for. The American then took in her next opponent’s own world title fight against Femke Hermans in Newcastle. On both occasions the two women held nothing back during fiery exchanges.
BOXXER Promoter Ben Shalom, the man trying to secure the fight, had hoped to have an official announcement before now but has always maintained that Shields against Marshall would happen.
“We’re waiting on a date that all the parties agree on,” he told Boxing Social’s Ryan Elliott last month.
“Savannah had a few things to work out on her end. It won’t be long it’s just a matter of time. The final pieces in the jigsaw are coming together and that fight is certain to happen next.”
