The weigh ins for the iconic al female card at the 02 on Saturday tonight have just concluded – and it’s all systems go for both the co-main and main event, with all four women making their respective championship weights.
Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall, who will be locking horns for the undisputed middleweight crown, both came in at 159.3lbs – slightly under championship weight. Although Shields and Marshall came in at identical weight, the Brit looked the considerably bigger women and one would imagine will rehydrate significantly in order to boast a size advantage on the night.

Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner also hit the scales identically, both coming in at 129.3lbs to give the green light for their super featherweight unification contest. Although Mayer has the edge in terms of height and reach, Baumgardner looks the physically stronger of the two women so the fight will likely come down to which woman can utilise the respective advantages most effectively.

Given the disappointment of the cancellation of this card five weeks ago, it is a relief to get to this stage with an intact schedule of fights. With genuine animosity and bad blood prevalent in both the co-main and main event, coupled with an undercard stacked with some of the best up and coming talent in female boxing, the show this weekend is one not to be missed.
