Simon Jordan Fires Back At Matchroom CEO Over ‘Failed Businessman’ Dig

Simon Jordan has lashed out at Frank Smith this week, after the Matchroom Boxing CEO described Jordan as a “failed businessman who’s ended up on the radio.”

Speaking on Talksport, Jordan slated Smith and how he ended up at Matchroom as well as describing his comments as “immature and ill-informed.”

“I take observations from my peers, I’m not going to take it from somebody who’s been given a job from someone who’s been given a business by their dad, let’s get it right.”

“The problem with boxing is, it seems to me, that you’re not allowed to have an opinion. And because we’re having an opinion, we’re pushing back and we’re not frightened to air it.”

“I couldn’t give a monkey’s about these people – I will call it how I see it. He [Frank Smith] can turn around and make these little immature, ill-informed, bag carrier mentality observations.”

Jordan has been a vocal critic of Matchroom’s handling of the situation regarding Conor Benn’s failed drug test, which prompted Smith’s initial criticism.

With Jordan and his Talksport colleague Jim White regular attendees at big UK boxing events – including those hosted by Matchroom – it will be interesting to see what happens next time he and Smith come face to face.

There could be some additional action ringside for fans to enjoy that night!

Never one to keep his opinions quiet, this is unlikely to be the last time Smith and Matchroom is on the receiving end of some criticism from the former Crystal Palace chairman.
