Tonight local contender Ted Cheeseman will be headlining the 02 Arena for the first time when he challenges Sergio Garcia for the European super welterweight championship.
Bermondsey boy Cheeseman will be looking to propel himself into world title contention with a victory over Garcia, following a successful 2018 where he notched up three successive victories – including a points over seasoned American Carson Jones – extending his undefeated record to 15-0 in the process.
However, the Spaniard comes into this contest boasting a similarly impressive record of 28-0, and is expected to provide a stern test for Cheeseman, who will no doubt be wanting to prevail in style in front of his home fans to also send out a statement to the rest of the division.
Cheeseman was last in action in October, after outpointing Asina Byfield in a highly-anticipated domestic clash.
This time, the undercard also features an intriguing showdown between rival compatriots as heavy-handed Jake Ball aims to successfully retain his WBA intercontinental light-heavyweight title against London native Craig ‘Spider’ Richards, a former British super-middleweight title challenger.
After his dramatic late stoppage against Craig Morris, Preston’s Scott Fitzgerald also features against Filip Rzadic in what is essentially a tune-up before his northwestern grudge match against Anthony Fowler in a rematch.
Undefeated middleweight Felix Cash battles Nigerian Rashid Abolaji for the Commonwealth title, while undefeated cruiserweight puncher Lawrence Okolie will also feature.
