It has been rumoured that Terence Crawford and Chris Eubank Jr were in negotiations for a shock fight and now the man who has trained them both has made a huge response to the news.
Crawford has not fought since last July when he brushed aside the challenge of Errol Spence Jr to claim all four major welterweight titles and become an undisputed champion in a second division.
Spence had the contractual right to a rematch though it has not been triggered, while Eubank is coming off a solid victory over Liam Smith having lost by knockout when the Brits first fought.
News recently broke that Crawford and Eubank, who have shared a trainer before now, could be in talks for a fight. That trainer, Brian ‘BoMac’ MacIntrye, however, called that ‘fake news’ when he was asked about it by ThaBoxingVoice.
“It’s fake news man. I don’t know who put that out there. Somebody said Eubank, he could be playing but we’ll stay in the gym and be ready for whatever.”
He was then asked about his relationship with Eubank Jr.
“I still talk to him. When I was in Vegas he still come by the gym. He was telling me he was waiting on a fight and once he have the date he’ll give me a call.”
Finally he gave his view on what would happen if a fight between the two was ever on the table.
“If that fight ever do come about we sit at the table and talk about, it, you never know.”
