Given the beating Terence Crawford inflicted upon Errol Spence Jr, whom he says he respects, the thought of ‘Bud’ getting in there with someone he has contempt for is a scary thought.
One such fighter is undisputed light middleweight champion Jermell Charlo, a stablemate of Spence who has a history of bad blood with the undisputed welterweight world champion.
And Crawford told ThePorterWay Podcast that he was “definitely coming” for Charlo, adding that he believes him to be “fake.”
“I don’t like Jermell for the simple fact that he’s a fake individual. I feel Errol is real, I feel he is genuine and I feel like he stands ten toes on everything that he’s saying.”
“I feel like Jermell is one of those guys who does a lot for attention. I was cool with the Charlo’s – until I started moving up in weight. I understand he and Errol are stablemates, but for him to start bashing me and talking bad about me, going out his way to say s*** about me? That’s some hoe s***.”
“If you’re cool with him, just say that and keep it pushing. I’m definitely coming for him, because that’s what I said I was going to do.”
A grudge match between the pair will not be next, however, as Charlo has the small matter of a fight against undisputed super middleweight champion Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez to deal with, which will take place at the T-Mobile Arena on September 30th.
As for Crawford, his next move looks most likely to be a rematch against Spence, potentially up in weight at super welterweight.
