So impressive was Terence Crawford against Errol Spence Jr back in July, fans have been questioning whether or not a fighter exists in and around Crawford’s weight that is capable of handing him his first loss.
There has been even talk of Crawford jumping up a whopping three weight classes to take on Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez – a match up in which the Omaha man is not without his backers.
‘Bud’ himself has revealed who he believes is the only fighter that can beat him, and it’s not Alvarez, Jermell Charlo or rising welterweight star Jason Ennis.
On a recent edition of the Earn Your Leisure podcast, Crawford explained that the only man who can prevent him from winning is himself.
“A lot of people ask me what do I have to do to win a fight. And I always just say be myself.
Because I honestly feel like I’m Terence Crawford – can’t nobody beat me unless I beat myself.”
Fans will have to wait for fights against the likes of Alvarez and Charlo, as Crawford’s next outing will be a rematch against Spence.
The Texan has officially triggered a contractual clause for another shot at the now undisputed welterweight king, and the pair are expected to meet either in the back end of this year or in early 2024.
Though the specifics around the rematch are unclear at this stage, it is expected to take place up at light middleweight, with Spence making no secret of the fact the cut down to 147lbs had become an unpleasant experience for him.
