The world is eagerly awaiting for one of boxing’s biggest stars Terence Crawford to announce his next fight and now the WBO president might just have let slip.
Crawford hasn’t fought since last July when he brushed aside the challenge of previously unbeaten welterweight Errol Spence Jr.
The contest was for all four of the major belts in that division and Crawford’s win made him an undisputed king in a second division having previously done so at super-lightweight years before.
There has long been talk of a rematch between the two though that has not yet been activated and word is Crawford is now free of that obligation.
Instead many people have dreamed of Crawford coming together with another star of the sport in Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, although the size difference between the two men preteens something of a hurdle.
Now WBO president Paco Valcarcel has been speaking to FightHype in Puerto Rico ahead of multi-division undisputed world champion Amanda Serrano and cruiserweight sensation Jake Paul both fighting on March 2, and revealed who ‘Bud’ could face.
“I’m not authorised to say it, that he loves to fight at 154, but I’m not authorised to explain it and make it public that he would love to fight at 154, I’ve been speaking to Crawford for a while now.
“He will be in Puerto Rico on Friday for the fight, then we have the recognition for him on Saturday and you have the opportunity to speak to Crawford about that.”
