Boxing pundit and former world champion Timothy Bradley has made his prediction for one of the biggest fights of 2022.
Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez fights Gennadiy Golovkin for the third time in their five-year rivalry on September 17 at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
Bradley, a former Super Lightweight and Welterweight title holder, now works outside the ring as part of ESPN’s boxing team.
The 38-year-old gave Little Giant Boxing his pick for the September grudge match.
“I got Canelo. Canelo, in my opinion, has a lot to prove. He let his fans down last time out [against Dmitry Bivol].”
“He’s going to come in with a chip on his shoulder. You could see it in his energy with the way he was looking at GGG.”
Following a lacklustre display Canelo lost to Bivol on points in May when challenging for the WBA Light Heavyweight title. The Mexican had aspirations of becoming an Undisputed title holder at 175lbs after achieving the feat at Super Middleweight.
At the two press conferences and in the build-up to Canelo-GGG 3 the former has made it clear exactly how he feels about his next challenger at 168lbs.
And Bradley believes the attitude that the 32-year-old is carrying will act as a positive.
“I think that’s going to compel him to work harder, get back to his craft, get back to boxing, and come in differently in the ring. Not just trying to walk guys down.”
“He’s [Canelo] got accustomed to that, and he got in with the wrong guy [Dmitry Bivol] that knew how to isolate all of that, took advantage of that, and beat him.”
