Ahead of their February 26 fight, Jake Paul has branded Tommy Fury ‘mentally weak’ for missing media duties.
Fury made headlines for refusing to fly out to Saudi Arabia for the kick-off press conference, instead sending promoter George Warren to fill his seat.
Whilst Paul used the absence to suggest that he may be pulling out of their fight agreement for a third time, Fury later confirmed that he was simply training and didn’t want to break camp with the long haul trip.
It’s now been revealed that on the night of the Artur Beterbiev versus Anthony Yarde fight when Paul and Fury’s bout was officially announced, the pair were due to sit down for a BT Sport face-to-face feature.
The Brit skipped it, as told by Paul on the newly-released footage.
“We were supposed to do a face-to-face with Tommy … Tommy disappeared bro. Tommy you’re a *****. You’re f***ing scared and you’re soft as **** for that.”
It was confirmed by host, Josh Denzel, that Tommy was expected to be at the other side of the table for the interview, however he had went home instead. The filming took place after both men entered the ring at the event and things got heated.
Paul said he was used to it.
“I don’t think he wants to sit here and engage in these types of conversations. I think he’s mentally weak. I was looking forward to making him look like an idiot, but it is what it is, man. At the end of the day, he has to get in the ring, so that’s all that matters.”
With all of that said, both fighters have touched down in Saudi Arabia for fight week and everything – weigh-in pending – seems to be going as planned.
